My Makeup Routine

Marilyn Monroe once said: “A smile is the best makeup any girl can wear” and I do agree with her but there are just days where I feel I need an extra – oomph – in my face rather than just a smile. This is why I got into knowing how makeup works and how it helps women to look more presentable and feel extra beautiful on hard days.  Also, getting ready in the morning can be a pain in the ” toot ” so I made sure to have a quick and easy yet effective makeup routine. All you will need is 5 to 15 minutes of your time depending on how superfluous you want to be and I’ll show you how.

Let’s start with my regular makeup :

  • Powder Foundation = Brush your powder foundation all over your face.

Buff Beige
  • Eyebrows = Shape your brows with a powder, pencil, or tinted brow gel. ( Make sure you have the right color that matches your hair and skin tone)

  • Blush = Swipe the blush on your cheekbones, you can go over the nose to create a sunburn look.

  • Eyeliner = Create a wing line on your lash line for a cat eye look or tight line your waterline for a subtle look.

For being extra or what most girls call “GLAM” makeup, I have the following essentials:

  • Liquid Foundation = Apply all over your face with wet beauty blender or a foundation brush ( You can use a full coverage foundation or not depending on your preference)
Revlon Photo Ready Foundation
Cool Beige

  • Concealer = Spread evenly unto areas that need extra coverage. ( Do not over do this step and just put enough product so it won’t cake and make your face too white)
They only have 1 Shade

  • Powder Foundation = Brush your powder foundation all over your face.

  • Eyebrows = Shape your brows with a powder, pencil, or tinted brow gel. ( Make sure you have the right color that matches your hair and skin tone)

  • Blush = Swipe the blush on your cheekbones diagonally upward. ( Do not put it in the middle and near the nose area, just on the high points to create a fierce look.)

  • Bronzer/ Contour = Swipe diagonally upward below your blush line. You can also contour the temples of your forehead and jaw line. ( I don’t usually contour my nose but you can if you want to. Do only 1 straight stroke in a downward motion)

  • Highlighter = Swipe the highlighter on top of your blush, tip of your nose and cupid’s bow. ( You can use a sparkly and white eyeshadow if you don’t want to buy a separate highlighter)

  • Eye Shadow = Build the colors into your eye lids from the lightest to the darkest color. You first have to choose a neutral color for your base, put on another  darker color for the crease and the final step is the darkest shade for the outer V. ( Do not be afraid of colors. Build it up as you go from the center of the eyelids to the outer part. The key to make your eyeshadow looking 3D and neat is BLENDING)

  • Eyeliner = Create a wing line on your lash line for a cat eye look or tight line your waterline for a subtle look.

  • Mascara = Wiggle the wand from left to right to thicken and stroke it up and down to lengthen. ( You can put on some false lashes too to make it more dramatic.)
Black 340
  • Lipstick = Apply your favorite shade. ( You can apply lip gloss on top if you like it shiny)

You can use any makeup brand you want 🙂

This is a sample on how I achieve this look.

I do change from brands to brands too but I try my best to stick with drugstore products because high-end brands are just super expensive for my bank account. Maybe one of these days I’ll invest but so far, under $10 makeup products works well for me. And before I forget, I am not a makeup expert of some sort. This is just how I apply my makeup so please study your face so you can see what actually looks good on you. Copying exactly what I do might turn out differently so be sure to play around and do not be afraid to try.

Most importantly, all of us girls should always keep in mind that makeup is not about hiding or changing ourselves rather it’s about enhancing our outer beauty. Always remember, outside beauty fades. What matters most is how we treat others and how we see ourselves internally. Enjoy and accept your beauty everyday of your life! 🙂
